• Balmy Days, Sweet Sangria

    June 24, 2010

That about describes what our wedding will most likely be, “Balmy Days, Sweet Sangria.” I always wanted a winter or fall wedding, but our tentative date seems to be falling more into the summer category, which is alright since our reception is going to be on the parent’s farm. My family’s from Texas anyway, we’re used to it; it’s his family I’m worried about!

If they don’t pass out from the heat and humidity (which isn’t really all that bad anyway), they can replenish their souls with some sweet sangria. Only problem? I’ve yet to find the perfect recipe for that. You see, the best sangria I’ve ever had was one drunken night back home in Fort Worth. There I was dubbed “Sweet Sangria” for the copious amounts I drank, all while we played spoons. Unfortunately, our inebriated versions weren’t as good as this guy’s.

Thanks to the Negra Modelo from earlier that night, I can’t quite remember what we put in the sangria. All I know is it was Mexican in variation (what else would you expect from a bunch of drunk Texans?) and was the most delicious thing I’ve ever had. Through scouring the internet, and a bunch of Home & Garden magazines, I’ve come across a few recipes I’ve been meaning to test out, but just from reading the ingredients, they all fall short..

I need y’all’s help! What’s the best sangria you’ve had? Drink too much (like me), or do you remember what was in it? Please, I beg of you, share your secret family recipes with me?!
