Carolina Chocolate Drops

I’m sure you’ve probably discovered the Carolina Chocolate Drops if you listened to The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 and Beyond, but if not, you’re missing out – big time. I was lucky enough to encounter their music before they popped up on the Hunger Games soundtrack, but I still can’t get enough of their tunes even today. Let me tell you what, I was crushed when they came to town and we couldn’t make it. Thankfully, the local radio station WHAN has a bluegrass show that takes requests, so I can even get my fix in the car. The host of the show is Rog, who also has a sweet spot for this band, so he generally plays any requests for them pretty quick if he can.

Anyway, take a listen to some of my favorite songs of theirs. This mix is definitely a soulful, beautiful collection, but don’t be fooled – they also have plenty of tunes to dance to!
